That raised its domestic total to $221.3 million, while it added $71.5 million overseas, lifting its worldwide total to $489.3 million. Debuting at No. 2 was the family flick The Muppets, with $29.5 million for the three-day weekend and $42 million over the five-day holiday haul. Three other family films rounded out the top-five for the three-day weekend: Happy Feet Two at 3 with $13.4 million; Arthur Christmas at No. 4 with $12.7 million; and Hugo at No. 5 with $11.4 million. RATINGS RAT RACE: ABC Wins Slow Thanksgiving Eve Riddled By Lows

ABC and Fox were the only games in town on a quiet Thanksgiving Eve. The two networks featured all-original lineups that posted double-digit declines and series/season lows across the board. (The shows’ season averages won’t suffer though as last night’s broadcasts were labeled as specials.) ABC’s Modern Family (4.5/13 in adults 18-49, 12.6 million viewers) was once again the top program Wednesday night in total viewers and 18-49. It was down 20% from last week to a season low. The Middle (2.5/8) was down 17% to a season low; Suburgatory (2.5/8) was down 14% to a series low; Happy Endings (2.7/7) was down 16% to a season low; and Revenge (2.1/6) was down 19% to a series low. ABC (2.7/8, 8.6 million) topped the night in 18-49 and total viewers, up 16% in viewers and 17% in 18-49 from the same night last year when the network also aired all-originals. Fox’s X Factor results show (2.5/8) was down 19% from last week’s Thursday results show for a series low. A special telecast of the Howie Mandel-hosted series of specials Mobbed drew an underwhelming 1.6/4, proving how 2010 the flash mob fad is. Everyone else aired wall-to-wall reruns.

LONDON -- BBC's docu strand "Storyville" and the Irish Film Board have inked a partnership for co-producing up to five docus in the two territories in the next year. The collaboration, which will seek to increase docu co-production between Blighty and Ireland, aims to produce docus with financing from both parties: IFB will be a minority financier on several U.K.-led documentaries that will offer Irish talent key roles in the productions, while the BBC will also partner on a slew of Irish-led docus. The partnership will build on previous successful docu co-productions between IFB and BBC "Storyville" such as Ian Palmer's Irish fistfighting docu "Knuckle" and Liz Mermin's racehorse docu "Horses." IFP production exec Alan Maher noted that the last four years have seen a "marked increase" in the local and international success of Irish feature docus. "However, the industry needs to remain ambitious in terms of growing opportunities for both co-production finance and international opportunities for our key creative talent, and we believe this new partnership with 'Storyville' will achieve both of these aims," he said. LOS ANGELES (AP) It may have taken some time, but Kelly Clarkson seems to finally be releasing an album without any drama on the side."Everything is good, everything is happy," she said, laughing brightly during a recent interview to promote "Stronger," released this week.It's a different scenario than her last two albums: She went through public disputes with legendary executive and mogul Clive Davis over her third album and with OneRepublic singer-songwriter Ryan Tedder after her last album was released.They were typical of the bold stances she's taken that proved her to be more than the passive, malleable product of a hit TV competition, establishing her as an artist instead of just a voice."I've been a fighter since I started walking," she said, adding casually and genuinely a line that could be lifted from one of her inspirational songs: "We get one life. You want to make sure that you're living it how you want to live it."Since Clarkson became the first "American Idol" a decade ago, she's established herself as one of pop's most formidable, and successful singers. She's sold over 20 million albums worldwide and landed seven singles in the Billboard Hot 100 top 10, including "Breakaway," ''My Life Would Suck Without You," "Miss Independent," and perhaps her biggest hit, "Since U Been Gone."Clarkson has maintained creative control of her music and career since her "Idol" days, and has written on all of her albums. Let’s review the LGBT documentary past, from rallies to realness. Before Stonewall: The Making of a Gay and Lesbian Community (1984) Greta Schilling’s powerful doc investigates the LGBT world leading up to the revolutionary riot between gay patrons of the Stonewall Inn and police offers in charge of persecuting sexual minorities. Amazing interview subjects abound, and plenty of fascinating subjects are bandied. Hope you’re in no mood to enjoy Ronald Reagan. Eventually, the film won Emmy Awards for Best Historical/Cultural Program and Best Research in 1987. The Celluloid Closet (1995) Sixteen years after its premiere, The Celluloid Closet’s chronological investigation of gay portrayals (and lack thereof) on the silver screen is a startling view. If the stock characters like the “sissies” of early film — flailing types designed to make other characters look manlier and cooler — don’t intrigue you, you’ll probably still love all the gay innuendos in Hitchcock classics. Plus, Lily Tomlin narrates. Best moment: Gore Vidal explains the gay subtext in his screenplay for Ben-Hur. For the Bible Tells Me So (2007) This fine documentary visits with five religious families coping with the coming-out of a gay family member. Ultimately, it’s a pretty family-positive movie, but it spares no detail when discussing the ramifications of blind faith on LGBT youth. New 'Dark Shadows' Photos Reveal Bloody Johnny Depp

Much ado has been made over the first photos of "Dark Shadows," Tim Burton and Johnny Depp's next highly-anticipated film together. First we got a look at Depp in crazy heavy white makeup, which had a lot of dedicated fans more than miffed, and then came the first official photo, complete with proper lighting and coloring, which helped alleviate those aforementioned fan fears. And today we have even more Burton/Depp/Dark Shadowy goodness to pore over, courtesy a newsy feature in Empire, and two brand new photos, which are once again likely to raise a stir. In the two newest photos, we see perfectly coiffed and '70s style appropriate Michelle Pfeiffer as Elizabeth Stoddard, and Jonny Lee Miller as Roger Collins seated at a dinner table, with Burton directing in the middle. The mood in the photo is similar to the family portrait-style pic previously released: somber and dark. The second photo is a close-up of Burton and Depp working out a hand gesture of some sort. Depp is once again in that creepy white make-up, along with what looks to be an equally white burned or mauled left hand (burned by sun exposure, perhaps?). Other newsworthy mentions in Empire's story revolve around the film's setting, and if we'll be viewing the final cut in two dimensions or three. "Tim and Johnny took a long time explaining exactly why it had to be 1972," screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith told the magazine. "1969 was too early and 1973 was too late. 1972 is right at the time when the hippie movement and all its peace and love is dying out and being replaced by this me-me-me generation in the '70s who are all about showing their wealth and having everything." And for the anti-3D film purists out there, producer Richard Zanuck revealed you will be happy to learn that "Dark Shadows" will be presented in good old fashioned 2D.
