What are these two songs?

I was listening to a rock station, and these are the lyrics I remember
from each song:

Song 1:
I wanna run away
and never say goodbye
I wanna run away
And open up my mind

Song 2:
Hey all you beautiful people
Depends on the size of the steeple

For song 2, it went something like that...and it was a raspy singer
and he repeated "The beautiful people" quite a few times throughout
the song.
